NZ Registered Osteopath | ACC Treatment Provider

Valerie Wright
BMSkH, PGDip Osteopathy, MScHCM (UK)

Val graduated from the Ara Institute of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Musculoskeletal Health and a Post Graduate Diploma in Osteopathy. She previously trained as a Registered Nurse and Midwife in South Africa and holds a Masters in Health Care Management from the University of Bedfordshire in the UK.

Before moving to New Zealand nineteen years ago, Val worked as a community health care nurse in disadvantaged communities in South Africa.

While raising two children and living in rural settings, Val started looking for more natural solutions to her family’s injuries, which lead her to Osteopathy. The combination of nursing, community health and osteopathy gives Val a unique perspective, being able to approach her patients with an understanding of the medical, social and osteopathic viewpoints.

Val particularly enjoys working with babies and children under 18 years as well as the elderly. She also has a particular interest in treating headaches, migraines and concussions. She employs a variety of techniques including direct structural osteopathic techniques as well as gentler osteopathic craniosacral and visceral manipulation.

When not working Val enjoys spending time outdoors enjoying our beautiful lakes while volunteering at rowing regattas. She also enjoys creating novelty sugarcraft cakes for friends and family.
